Rev. Al Sharpton Announces he is an 'American' and insists others from the black community join him in dropping the 'African American' stigma
Sharpton went on to say, "Until we stop dividing 'African Americans' and other Americans into separate categories we are never going to see racism go away. Martin Luther King once said, 'Don't judge me by the color of my skin but the content of my character' and we must follow this. I urge all of the black community to drop using 'African Americans' and refer to yourselves as only Americans."
This is a shocking reversal from Sharpton going town to town blaming every crisis possible on racism. Sharpton is hopeful his complete reversal on being a racist will catch on and more in the black community will end the needless separation.
Several others in the black community have joined Sharpton in ending racism including the popular TV star Raven. She has announced she is not a 'Gay American' or 'African American' but an American.
